Carmen is a final-year medical student at the National University of Malaysia (UKM) whose interests lie at the intersection of medicine, ethics, and society. Her academic experiences have shaped her engagement with bioethics as a way to apply ethical principles within the diverse cultural and social contexts of Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Actively involved in the Asian Medical Students’ Association at university, national, and international levels, she has contributed to student exchanges and conferences that promote cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region. Through her internship with the SEA Bioethics Network, she is exploring regional ethical challenges such as healthcare equity, emerging technologies, and ethics education, and hopes to contribute to the evolving practice of clinical ethics in Malaysia.
