Mark currently works at Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia where he chairs the Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah Clinical Ethics Committee (CEC) and coordinates the Clinical Ethics Consultation Service (CECS).  A medical doctor by training, Mark embarked on his journey in bioethics at St. Mary’s University Twickenham where he earned a Masters in Bioethics & Medical Law before completing his Doctorate in Bioethics with concentrations in Clinical Ethics, Public Health & Systems Ethics from Loyola University Chicago. He has also received certification as a Healthcare Ethics Consultant from the Healthcare Ethics Consultant Certification Commission in the United States. Mark has been involved in establishing clinical ethics services at Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Clinical Ethics Malaysia (CEM) and other healthcare institutions in Malaysia. He is currently Chair of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Ethics Committee, a member of the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) Ethics Committee, and Vice-President (Medical) of the Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia. Mark’s interests are in medical ethics education, professionalism, and clinical ethics focusing on end-of-life care and advance decision-making.
