Research Fellowship Grants

The Research Fellowship Grants support scholars, researchers and professionals undertaking extensive research within Southeast Asia. Proposed research should take intellectual risks, explore innovative responses to ethical challenges and opportunities, and advance understanding of the foundations and frontiers of bioethics in the region.

The grants are intended for applicants ready to lead their own research plans, establish themselves as independent investigators and expand interdisciplinary and international networks.

Applicants may come from any discipline, including philosophy, law, medicine, social sciences and humanities. Applicants must:

• Hold a doctoral degree, or a master's degree with at least five years of research experience.
• Demonstrate a track record of publishing in the proposed research topic.
• Not receive funding from another source for the same research.

Recipients are expected to:

• Submit half-yearly progress reports from the commencement of the fellowship.
• Submit a final report within three months after the fellowship ends.
• Produce work that advances bioethics in Southeast Asia, such as a peer-reviewed publication, policy paper, conference contribution, public forum or educational activity.
• Include the required SEA Bioethics Network and Wellcome Trust funding acknowledgement in resulting work.
