Research Fellowship Grant

Agnes Bhakti Pratiwi is an assistant professor at the Department of Medical Education and Bioethics, Centre for Bioethics and Medical Humanities, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, and a PhD candidate at Amsterdam UMC, University of Amsterdam. Her prior experience as a dentist in remote Borneo sparked her interest in public health and the ethical aspects of primary healthcare and health systems, leading her to prioritize research in this area. Her PhD focuses on patient values and ethical aspects of access to healthcare in Indonesia. Her SEABioN research project on patient autonomy in Southeast Asia aims to understand the impact of cultural influences on patient autonomy in practice, shedding light on the complexities of navigating ethical considerations in a multicultural society. Her findings will contribute to the ongoing discourse on patient autonomy and its practical implications, potentially improving healthcare practices in the region.
